TSAVO NATIONAL PARK Tsavo is one of the largest and oldest National parks and just 30yrs ago, it was still the classic hunting ground for renowned big game hunters. Its terrain switches from rich golden savannahs and it offers spectacular panaromas including the striking outcrop of Shaitani lava, mzima springs, Mudanda Rock and yatta plateau..Tsavo is divided from North to South by the Nairobi/Mombasa Road into Tsavo East and West. Two permanent rivers water the park; the Tsavo river that flows through Tsavo West and the Athi River, which flows from Tsavo East; the two unite to form the remarkably shaped water-worn rocks ( Lugard falls). The park is home to some of the largest herds of elephant in kenya. MAASAI MARA NATIONAL RESERVE ‘The African Experience’ has fired the imagination of countless people since the days of the early explorer. There is no finer place to thrill to your own personal ‘African Experience’ than the Maasai Mara National Reserve, part of the great Mara – Serengeti ecosystem, renowned for the abundance of its wildlife. The annual migration of up to two million wildebeest, topi and zebra has well been described as ‘the greatest wildlife show on earth!’ This natural wilderness is the habitat of all the ‘Big 5’, plus a spectacular variety of birds. LAKE NAKURU NATIONAL PARK On the outskirts of Nakuru lies a truly remarkable National park which has achieved international fame on animal sanctuary. Both black and white Rhinos are being given a new lease of life in this 188sq.Km full electrically fenced park and they are carefully protected. The Rothschilds giraffe is another unique and the park has it’s fair share of the Buffalo, Leopard, Wild dog, Zebra, Eland, Waterbuck and the territorial Lion. With commanding views of the lesser Flamingo dotted with the Greater Flamingo for which Lake Nakuru is justly famous. The 156 Km Nairobi – Nakuru road gives the visitor an unrivalled view of the majestic Great Rift Valley, winding through a series of lakes and forested uplands all the way to the bustling market town of Nakuru. The drive is about 2hrs to the park and a 25 min flight from Nairobi.
AMBOSELI NATIONAL PARK The essence of amboseli is Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest peak, which dominates everything in it. The main attractions of the National park are the large elephant population and the prolific birdlife. There are few trees in Amboseli and part of its attraction is the ease and certainty of game viewing, unobstructed by bush and scrub. For most of the year Lake Amboseli is a dry soda bed that produces mirages on a fantastic scale. When you see see Wildbeest, Zebra or best of all a herd of Giraffe shimmering against the backdrop of Mt.Kilimanjaro, you are watching one of the sights of Africa. Amboseli can be accessed by road and its 4hrs drive from Nairobi and 45 min by a light aircraft.
ZANZIBAR Zanzibar has long been considered an exotic destination with a fascinating history, a vibrant Swahili culture and fabulous beaches. Every discerning traveler is looking for some pampering and they can finally indulge at the frangipani spa located on the south Eastern Coast of the island. Zanzibar is an exotic spices island. Flights take 1 hr 15 min from Nairobi. LAMU Tucked away at the northern end of kenya’s coastline, lies a little group of islands, the Lamu Archipelago. On the Arab trading route as early as the 7th century, these island are steeped in history. Lamu is the oldest surviving town in East Africa. Its narrow streets, its stone buildings with beautifully carved doors, its busy waterfront teeming with dhows and its fascinating people belong to a bygone age. Lamu has changed little in 200 years. There is no motor traffic and transportation is by donkey or dhow. Flights take 1hr 20 min. from Nairobi.
