Tsavo East National Park

Both Tsavo East and West together form one of Africa's largest wilderness reserves. Tsavo as a whole covers 20,812 square km pure wilderness, incorporating savannah, ranges and hills, acacia and montane forest, and an extensive river system.

The vast plains of Tsavo are crossed by the main Nairobi-Mombasa railroad. This historic railway was, in 1899, the scene of one of Africa's greatest Adventure stories. Two large lions actively preyed on the railway workers as they built a bridge over the Tsavo river, claiming over 120 victims. They evaded hunters for well over a year, and the legend of the Maneaters of Tsavo was born.

Chartered flights can also be used to cover this extensive home of wilderness.

The sheer scale of Tsavo gives the visitor a chance to really get away from it all, and to explore the wild in total solitude. The park is larger than Jamaica or Wales.

Animals to be seen:

Elephant, their hides often a luminous red with dust, as well as Lion, Buffalo, Eland, Giraffe Impala, Kudu and possibly Rhinoceros.

Birds to be seen:

Weavers, hornbills, sunbirds, rollers, and raptors commonly seen.

The itinerary is as follow:

0600 hrs-pick up from the hotel and drive to Tsavo East to arrive at Bachuma gate at 0730hrs.
Morning game drive till around 1200hrs and drive to Voi Safari Lodge for lunch.

1400hrs -Proceed for the afternoon game drive to the hippo pool and the crocodile pool. Thereafter you proceed to the famous Mudanda rock and the Lugard falls.

1600hrs-depart Tsavo East to Mombasa with a game drive enroute to arrive Mombasa at 1800hrs.
